As Security & Loss Prevention Officer at THE MARKET, you’ll be responsible to help ensure the safety and security of our premises, assets, team members and visitors. Our main goal is to provide a safe and respectful workplace for both customers and employees by monitoring internal, external theft and ensuring that company policies and procedures are being followed.
What you'll do: Responsibilities
Walking and monitoring the premises, being alert of and investigating suspicious behavior, and enforcing relevant company policies.
Prevent losses and deter shoplifting by remaining alert, vigilant and highly visible in designated areas and the sales floor.
Approach suspects who commit shoplifting crimes to recover assets.
Contact local authorities when needed. Maintain a Professional relationship and Communication with Law Enforcement, Fire Departments, and emergency medical personnel
Assist as needed in the execution of shoplifting arrest, and or any crimes committed against company
Complete incident reports by recording observations, information, occurrences and surveillance activities, and submit to upper management
Maintain constant communication with store management, working together as a team to prevent losses.
Ensure compliance with THE MARKET apprehension guidelines
Remain in compliance with local, state federal and BSIS regulations for Proprietary Private Security
Respond and assist during emergencies and provide necessary assistance to Team Members and/or visitors
Inspect perimeter doors to ensure locks are in place and working properly at the end of day prior to clocking out
Promote a positive, welcoming and safe atmosphere within THE MARKET

Possess good people skills and provide extraordinary Customer Service.
Must be able to evaluate situations successfully, with high attention to detail
Adaptable to changes, can multitask and maintain professional demeanor under any circumstance
Knowledge of the BSIS Power to Arrest training manual preferred
Ability to have good judgement and make fast decisions
Must be able to write clear and concise incident reports that can later be used in court
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate professionally to diverse individuals and groups, including suspects of shoplifting, law enforcement officers and store management.
Must be able to remain calm, manage themselves professionally and with high integrity under any circumstance.
Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays appropriate to retail business needs
Prior loss prevention experience in theft apprehensions preferred but not required
Must be able to maintain/manage confidential information
Must possess the ability to make good sound decisions under stressful situations
Must adhere to THE MARKET principles and values
Must be able to stand/walk the sales floor for the entire scheduled shift
Collaborate and work effectively with store management
